Here’s a quick look at the process I go through with creating book covers with authors who self-publish their book:
- The author sends 3-5 book covers that have a similar look and feel they’re aiming for with their book. Title font/style – People on the cover or not? – Color scheme? – Any other details you like?
- The author provides some basic information:
- Title, author name, book cover finished size, back cover copy, author picture and bio
- What printer they’re using (Create Space? IngramSpark?)
- Nicole will do 1-3 drafts and send for feedback from the author
- Nicole & the author will repeat this several times until reaching a final draft.
- When finalized, the author will send the spine width or template provided by the printer once the interior is uploaded and Nicole will put together a final pdf.
- The printer or author will also need to provide the ISBN barcode for the back cover if it’s a printed book.
- Nicole will provide the pdf and accompanying social media promotional images.
